The second edition of the foundational textbook in pediatric hospital medicine, Comprehensive Pediatric Hospital Medicine, has published on AccessPediatrics. Astute librarians may associate this title with Elsevier, as they published the first edition, but the rights were transferred to McGraw-Hill and this is entirely new content for AccessPediatrics. Pediatric hospital medicine, sometimes referred to as inpatient pediatrics, is one of the fastest growing fields in pediatrics and officially recognized as a pediatric subspecialty in 2016 by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). There are now more than 200 2-year pediatric hospitalist fellowship programs at hospitals of all sizes throughout the US and Canada, and a separate board examination will be offered by the American Board of Pediatrics in 2019.
